AAAS Supports Charles Darwin University 2025 Engineering & Environment Student Awards

Congratulations to Yonten Jamtsho, recipient of the Australian Association of Animal Sciences Award – Best Honours Thesis in Animal Science!
Yonten was honoured to receive this recognition for his thesis titled:
“Sharing Airspace: Assessment of Bird Strike Risk Over Kakadu’s Ramsar Area.”

His work is the first to apply Species Distribution Models (SDMs) in this context, offering a novel approach to predict aircraft bird strike locations. The study highlights how SDMs could be used as an important tool to reduce bird strike risks in ecologically sensitive areas.

The Australian Association of Animal Sciences (AAAS) proudly supports and celebrates student innovation and excellence in the field of animal science.
